Hey, it’s Zach.

In this free piano webinar, we’re going to go over how to learn piano scales for beginners (though you can use these same tactics even if you’re intermediate or advanced).

More importantly, we’re going to learn a Systematic Training Plan to develop smooth, fast scales with 10 minutes a day of practice. Here’s what we’ll cover in the webinar:

1. Piano Scales Overview
-Why people have trouble learning scales and how to fix it.

2. The Accelerated Learning Techniques
-Strategies for hitting your scales from all angles to learn in the shortest time possible.

3. The Systematic Plan
-Crafting the strategies into a systematic, day by day plan to dominate your scales.

4. The Single Biggest Mistake
-The mistake it seems ALL beginner’s make and how to fix it (you could be doing everything else right, and you won’t get results if you make this mistake!)

5. Bonuses and specials
-Free bonus PDFs, as well as a special deal I have going on for a complete ebook training plan.

Anyway, I challenge you to watch all the way through the video without getting distracted, and then sit down at the piano as soon as possible to go over all the techniques and actually practice them! You and I know that’s the only way to truly get results.

Here’s the link again with the special bonus deal from the end of the video:

And if you have any questions, feel free to email me zach@bestpianoclass.com

Thanks!

-Zach

Hi, i don’t think this webinar will be anything new to me as i have access to all the premium courses on the site as well as read the ebook, so i didnt watch it all.
But i have a problem. Sometimes when i play at a fast tempo hands together my hands go out of sync by approx. half to a whole note. I have both hands separate near perfect, till the maximum tempo on my metronome (it caps at 255 BPM) so i know i have good hands separate.

Also a couple more questions, after i finish learning all the scales, minor and major do i still need to practice them or i dont need to?

Last question, what all types of scales do i need to learn, and why do you have the cheatsheet for Harmonic Minor and not just Minor? Just wondering.

    Sorry for so many questions.

    • Become a Piano Superhuman sagt:

Hey, so to answer your questions:

To solve the hands together issue, use the metronome ramp up and REALLY focus on getting them even. Also practicing the rhythms strategy hands together will help, you just gotta really focus on it.

Also note that once your scales get faster and faster you’ll have to „feel“ the scales more than think about it. It’s hard to explain, but you’ll get it when it clicks.

And, once you’re finished getting all your scales up to your goal tempo, I’d recommend still running them every so often. Nowadays, I typically run 3 or 4 scales at the start of my warmup, only takes a couple minutes, to maintain them. But you don’t have to drill them like you did when you learned them. That time would be better spent on other technique aspects that need more of your attention.

As for the Harmonic scales. Natural minor scales are the exact same notes as their major counterparts (for example, A Minor is the same notes as C Major) but just start a minor third down. For this reason, I think it makes more sense to focus on Harmonic Minor scales because you’re building in NEW technique since you have to work on the sharped 7th coordination.

You COULD absolutely learn Natural minor as well (and melodic minor). And could also learn blues scales, modes like dorian/Phrygian/ext, but you gotta draw the line somewhere and think „what’s the best use of my time.“ My opinion is that Major and Harmonic minor are enough for 90% of songs, and if you have to learn the technique of, say, natural minor for a song, you can just practice that specific scale and it’ll come pretty easy because of the time you spent on your other scales.

Anyway, sorry for the long response, hope that helps!

      -Zach

    • AG Cuber sagt:

Thank you for your response. According to your scales sheet, A minor and C major don’t appear to be ‚exact same notes‘, theres a G# in A Minor.

Also btw, this has had me wondering,
      For eg in the F# major, the notes are F# G# A# B C# D# E# and F#.
Why do we write E# instead of F in this case? I think its easier if you just write F. It kinda confuses me why would people write E# instead?

    • Become a Piano Superhuman sagt:

Yea, so for the A Harmonic Minor scale (the one in the sheet) it has a G#. But the A Natural Minor Scales is all white notes.

And the reason the F# scale is denoted as E# is actually because of sheet music. If you had a song in the key of F#, there’s obviously an F# in the key signature (on the left side of the staff). But the note F (or E#) is a very commonly played note in the key of F#, so when writing music you’d constantly have to put a natural sign before the F. It also makes it harder to read because when sightreading it’s easier to „see“ the note going up on the staff from an E# than an F# than it is to see an F natural to an F# where the note is on the same horizontal place on the staff.

Anyway, sorry for the confusing explanation, hope it made sense haha. If you’re moreso playing by ear, feel free to cross it off and write an „F“ in there for the E#!

God, this is annoying. I feel like I’m watching one of those sales pitches where the payoff is just a minute away, but the guy never gets to the point. „I’m gonna show you one trick in just a minute, but first…“. Why do this? Why waste people’s time? Is it just a „foot in the door“ salesman technique where you try to get the viewer to invest as much time as possible so they will feel obligated to buy something? God, watching this was frustrating. I watched for 15 minutes and you still haven’t actually taught anything.

  8. Garrett Wood sagt:

To everyone that’s hating, you’re not going to get anything done that way. Sure, he talks a lot, but if you listen, it’s important. You want to be amazing at the piano, but you can’t sit through a 55-minute video telling you exactly how to do it. You’re immature and never going to get anywhere in music unless you sit down, swallow your pride, and listen to someone who is better than you are. I like this guy because he’s in-depth and honest. His strategies are effective if you actually listen to what he says. Grow up, honestly.

    • Geometrical Gamer sagt:

I absolutely agree with everything said in this comment. People wanna get better but they wanna whine about a 55 minute video. They need to shut up and listen to these amazing tips and strategies that are going to help them get better

People are hating because literally half of the video was him speaking about why you should watch this video. Sure he’s great and all, but wasted time is wasted time. If you had a brain worth something you’d understand just what wasted time is and how precious it is. Have a good one.

    • Carlos Castellanos sagt:

As a music teacher myself, telling people WHY the information that you’re giving as a qualified teacher is important. To a gifted and motivated student who honestly wants to learn, of course it’s better to skip straight to the relevant information — That’s about 2% of your students though. Most people sincerely DO NOT understand why it would be important to approach learning so slowly, or that only practicing a few notes at a time for days actually leads to the most rapid results.

    • Real One sagt:

Carlos Castellanos really tho? Is that true? Honest question. And with more experience, should u still approach it slowly or speed up at a certain point?

our brain is capable of surprising us.. I used to practice and practice on moonlight sonata..put it away for awile.. huge improvement. after weeks away from it. sometimes I’ll go outside do some woodwork. come back all clear I want thinking about it.. I’m retired electronic tech. was working on a German made grinding tube set. I it had no FM.. I made all the voltage test ECT. went to dentist appointment in the chair and realized that a voltage was wrong at the mixer tube. knew it had to be certain open resistor. voila fixed.. again brain solves problem. another thing about the brain is that it hears the individual notes of a chord. I was doing a song called Bourree in eminor. and realized I could hear the two notes in the diad.. and I thought duh that’s obvious.. but think about the brains ability to har those notes and chords.
